Authorities in New Mexico have issued an arrest warrant for actor and director Timothy Busfield, following allegations of child sex abuse. The warrant was signed by a judge and is based on a criminal complaint filed by an investigator with the Albuquerque Police Department. The complaint states that a child reported Busfield for inappropriate touching during the production of the television series The Cleaning Lady, in which he acted and directed.
The allegations detail incidents that reportedly began when the child was seven years old. According to the complaint, Busfield allegedly touched the child three or four times during the first incident, with a subsequent occasion involving five or six instances when the child was eight years old. The child’s mother informed Child Protective Services that the abuse occurred between November 2022 and Spring 2024.
The child, who has been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety, expressed fear about reporting the incidents, believing that Busfield, as the director, would react negatively. The complaint highlights that the child experienced nightmares related to the alleged abuse, waking up in fear.
Warner Bros., the production company behind The Cleaning Lady, reportedly conducted its own investigation into the allegations but was unable to substantiate the claims. The series aired for four seasons on Fox, concluding in 2025, and starred Elodie Yung as a Cambodian doctor drawn into organized crime after witnessing a mob killing.
Busfield, known for his roles in The West Wing, Thirtysomething, and Field of Dreams, is married to actress Melissa Gilbert, famous for her role in Little House on the Prairie. As of now, there has been no immediate response from Busfield’s attorney or agent regarding the allegations, nor from Gilbert’s publicist.
The legal process will now unfold following the issuance of the arrest warrant, as the Albuquerque Police Department continues to investigate the claims brought against Busfield.
